CURRENT SLOTS & STATUS:

Important: Before You Request a Commission

  • Please have visual references ready with your description. They help so much.
    • Pictures that communicate what you want are far more valuable than a written description – please aim to have both. If you have a pose or particular and specific facial expression in mind, find a picture that’s similar to what you’re looking for. If you want a specific character drawn, have reference images for how they look, any details and accessories they may have, etc. Even doodling up stick figures to show poses/character positions for me can help. The more you can provide, the easier it will be.
  • If you want something very, very specific, double-check that you’ve told me everything up front.
    • If changes need to be made to a piece because of something I missed in your description, those are always free. If you specified it and I forgot, then tell me and I’ll fix it.
    • But! If changes need to be made halfway through because you forgot to tell me something earlier or change your mind, there will be an extra charge to redraw the piece.
    • I will confirm as much as I can before I start the finished piece in order to avoid redraws, but again, the more you can provide, the easier it will be.
  • If you can specify what category of commission you would like from the menu below, that helps a lot. If you’re not entirely sure where your idea fits, let me know, be as specific as you can about what you want the end product to look like, and I’ll absolutely help you figure out what it would cost.
  • I’ll ask first, but please note that for colour pieces I need to know before I start drawing if you prefer watercolour paints, pencil crayons, mixed media, or digital colour as I actually approach these all differently from the get-go.
    • Coloured pencil art will be drawn immediately onto cardstock with an HB graphite pencil that’s easy to erase and clean up.
    • Watercolour, mixed media, and digitally coloured pieces are mapped out on cardstock with a col-erase first. Col-erase is my preferred drafting/sketching tool, but it’s harder to erase so I don’t use it for pencil pieces. After that, the art is traced via lightbox onto watercolour paper for finishing or, for digital art, it’s scanned and the Col-erase is digitally removed (col-erase is way easier to eradicate from a digital piece than HB pencil lines are).
  • I’m not very good at robots. There are probably better artists out there to pay to draw robots.
  • I can draw real, actual people, but it’s not my strong suit. If you want me to try my hand at it, I ask that you provide at least a few photo references of the subject. More than one.

A NOTE ON NSFW ART

  • I will draw some casual nudity, pin-ups, and basic romantic sex but I’m not very keen on making NSFW art. If you’re interested in asking me for sexier art, try to avoid requests involving complex sexual poses, spraying/spattered bodily fluids, and kinky sex. I’ve tried it and it’s not really my thing.
  • I am also not interested in drawing gore.

Rules, Notes, and Process

  • On sizes:
    • Most pieces are 8.5″ x 11″
    • Watercolour art is slightly smaller than 9″ x 12″ (Canada Post photo mailers say they’re 9″ x 12″ but they’re just a touch smaller than that on all sides actually, so I have to trim things down a touch to fit them in)
    • If you want something bigger: I’ve only done larger pieces than that once before and I would prefer not to do it again – that one time it was poster-sized, shipped in a tube, travelled internationally and shipping was wildly expensive. If you want something very big, I may need to get a shipping quote for you first.
  • If you want the finished physical piece mailed to you, I ship within Canada and the US for $15 and anywhere else in the world for $25 (as long as it fits in a standard Canada Post photo mailer).
    • I can offer mail tracking in Canada and the US, but internationally I may need to get a quote first as some places have very expensive tracking options (shipping to the Netherlands was $70 for a 9″ x 12″ envelope if I wanted it tracked – that was an experience).
  • If you’re registered on the waitlist, it means that any new commission slots that open will be offered to you first before they’re posted publicly.

  • Payment is required before drawing begins.
    • Payment is via Paypal invoice. Please wait for the official Paypal invoice to be sent to you before attempting to pay, even if you know my Paypal email address (official invoices make tax time much easier for me so please help me stay organized).
    • Refunds can be requested and will be honoured in full as long as the commission hasn’t gone past the pencils stage. After pencilling, refunds are partial depending on how much work has already been done.
    • Payment secures your place in my queue. It doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll begin your commission immediately that day. This is especially true if it’s more complex and requires more research or discussion. You can absolutely request status updates on the queue, or refer to the list below for a general idea of how I’m progressing.

  • Patience please. Commissions are custom art – they take time. Please also note that the artist is also working a full-time job outside of doing commissioned art.
    • Please allow at least six to eight weeks per commission. This may be longer if the work is more complicated, large format, or has a lot of specifics regarding pose, lighting, clothing details, etc.
    • If you need it completed by a certain date, ask me about it upfront – I can often work to accommodate reasonable requests.

Note for Sketch Commissions Only: because there isn’t a “pencilling” stage to these (as they’re just sketches) and they’re meant to be really quick, these are for very, very simple concepts, no background, and no free redraws.
