Aside from the fact that, at this point, Aurorin may not know about the summoning device at all, stealing it from Jamet later and then torturing out of him how to use it is very much not a guaranteed prospect, especially considering that the vial would likely be lost to the ocean. Trying to convince Therese to hand it over seems the most logical course of action from younger Aurorin’s perspective.
